T-Love was established back in 1982 in the middle of Poland’s repressive Martial Law period. Four high school boys inspired by Punk and New Wave (the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Buzzcocks, the Jam) debuted with their own repertoire at a school gig. As the group’s leader Muniek Staszczyk admits: ‘We couldn’t play, we couldn’t sing, we had no instruments – we just had this urge and need to talk about our relationship with reality.’
A year later T-Love made a massive and memorable impression at the punk rock festival in Jarocin. The first T-Love underground tape was released in 1984 with a live recording from the Jarocin Festival, and they hit the airwaves in 1985 with the song ‘Garage’.
Their real breakthrough came in 1991 with the release of ‘Warsaw’, which became a nationwide hit and helped to establish T-Love’s strong position on the Polish music market. The 90’s proved very fruitful – the band performed hundreds of concerts and all six albums went Gold.
The burnout and tiredness resulting from that intensive decade eventually led T-Love to the genesis of a more relaxed and peaceful sound on the album Anti Idol recorded in London. Although commercially Anti Idol didn’t repeat the success of previous records it represented the group’s catharsis and was an important step in their development.
Of T-Love’s twelve albums eleven have gone Gold. They have released two
DVDs: a video clip collection and a live concert in front of 350,000 people.
Currently T-Love are working on their thirteenth album scheduled for release in April 2006.
T-Love are a rock band that has managed to cross the generation divide with the lyrics and charisma of band leader Muniek Staszczyk and their own distinctive rock sound with reggae and funk influences which have won them the recognition and admiration of hundreds of thousands of fans.
